WandaVision was kind of perfect for anyone who was tired of superhero movies about searching for shiny special objects — let's call it "Infinity Stone burnout" — up until the very end. The magical tome that Wanda is reading in the post-credits scene is kind of a big deal. Agatha calls it the "Book of the Damned" in the finale, but comic book fans might know it better as the Darkhold.

To put it simply, it's a book of dark magic. It's also a book that had many owners in the original Marvel comics, including Doctor Strange. It was a big part of Agents of S. Don't think too hard about the fact that the Darkhold changed owners many times off-screen. For all we know, it might not be the same Darkhold in all three shows. Now that the concept of a "multiverse" is on the table, the possibilities are literally endless.

If you haven't watched these other shows, the biggest takeaway about the Darkhold is that it's a pretty dangerous magical object on its own. Once someone starts reading it, there's a danger of becoming a bit obsessed. Hopefully, with her own dark moment behind her, Wanda has it under control. He can astral project and Wanda is even adopting a similar meditation pose to Strange. Going forward, it'll be fun to see Wanda use both her given reality-warping powers and her learned magical abilities.

His quest is to rid the world of anyone abusing power, of sorcerers who he deems don't deserve that power. In his mind, it's too dangerous and can lead to another Kaecilius-esque problem in the future. Mordo locates Jonathan Pangborn Benjamin Bratt - the character who overcame paralysis by using magic - and somehow drains of him of that power. It's unclear how Mordo does this and if "magic" is just an energy that can be transferred since it would seem Pangborn could just conjure another similar spell to re-heal but what matters is that Mordo is seemingly using some form of dark magic in his personal vendetta.

And it's not out of pure jealously or some master plan to conquer the world and be all-powerful. He saw our world almost fall and wants to ensure that doesn't happen again.

Mordo seemingly desires to protect Earth at all costs, just in his own way. It makes him a far more grounded "villain" than he is in the source material, and since this is clearly setup for the eventual Doctor Strange 2 , it could be putting Mordo on the path toward being one of the better-developed and more clearly-motivated adversaries of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

When we visited the set of Doctor Strange in February, director Scott Derrickson made it clear to us that Mordo is being setup for the sequel the director very much hopes to make. And across the board the crew and talent seemed confident they were building a story that would be continued. This post-credits scene confirms it and now we can speculate about when Doctor Strange 2 will release could be as early as as the beginning of Phase 4 and what it'll be about.
